A Vote for Love by Jea Hawkins
Jea Hawkins has once again written a wonderful love story. She has written about what most of us believe to be unimaginable and unattainable. The story she has written brings together tow women at different ages and stages in life. Sometimes we are so driven to be successful at parts of our life, while we neglect other parts of our life. Society sometimes dictates and shows us that you can’t find true love and have the perfect career, no matter how much we want it. Throughout life we must make a decision that is best for us. This story teaches us that sometimes what is best for us is not following the path we laid out for ourselves.
Haley is a twenty-three-year-old, who is on her way to graduating with a degree in journalism. She is working as a server at a private party and she ends up having the best encounter thus far, with a familiar face. Veronica is a previous model in her forties and related to Senator McClusky. There is an instant connection between the two of them. Veronica decides to ask Hayley out at the coffee shop she frequents. Hayley is a bit hesitant to go out with Veronica. For some reason, they are drawn to each other and can’t seem to be apart. Hayley gets a job and is tasked to write a piece on Senator McClusky and paints him in a bad light. Hayley feels like she is being forced to choose between the career she has wanted her whole life or the woman she loves, what will she do?
Throughout the story we get descriptions of the college that Hayley attends. We also get a glimpse into the coffee shop, restaurants and the apartment she gets after graduation. We then get to visit Paris with her and Veronica to meet someone special to Veronica. I love the stories Jea writes about finding true love and how we can overcome any obstacle placed in our path. Her stories empower us to become strong women and to believe in love and conquering the world. I would say this book is another must read.
