A Clueless Woman by T.B. Markinson

T.B. Markinson is a wonderful author that I came across when I stumbled across the I Heart Lesfic website. I had started reading “A Family Woman”, but decided I needed to know Lizzie and Sarah from the beginning. “A Clueless Woman” is the prequel to the series. This is the first book that I have read by T.B. Markinson. I am someone who enjoys reading series. This was a beautiful story that I was completely immersed in. I just couldn’t put the book down. Let me introduce you to Lizzie and Sarah.
Lizzie Petrie is a PhD History Student working with Dr. Marcel. She has been having a tough time dealing with her ex-girlfriend Meg. Lizzie has a hard time with common sense things, which makes her a bit clueless. She meets a beautiful woman through Dr. Marcel. Sarah is a high school English teacher, who is visiting the college to determine if Dr. Marcel will allow her students to sit through a class. Dr. Marcel introduces Sarah to his PhD student. Sarah finds the woman beautiful and sets up a time to meet for coffee to discuss the class and maybe try and get to know her better. Sarah is fascinated by Lizzie and enjoys spending time with her learning all her quirks. Will Lizzie learn to open up and give Sarah a chance, or will she sabotage the relationship before it starts?
I enjoyed that the story took place in Denver, Colorado, it was the perfect setting for the story along with the descriptions used throughout the story. The characters were completely entertaining and they had such depth to them. I found Lizzie to be very interesting. She is so thorough in her thinking, which at times made her a bit frustrating. I learned so much about her in this story regarding the different relationships she has with friends and especially her family. I had heard about Graves’ Disease before, but didn’t know much about it. I have a clearer understanding about her illness. Her relationship with Sarah blossomed a bit quick. I loved their interactions throughout the story. I also found the depths of the emotions and relationship situations to be something I could relate to in some way. Sarah was someone that accepted Lizzie just the way she was, which is something most of us want in a partner. Sarah was an amazing woman, she so was understanding when it came to Lizzie. I found the story to be very endearing and romantic. I realized in reading this story that some of us are like Lizzie at times regarding relationships, which can cause us to get in our own ways sometimes.
